Foundation hosts successful golf tournament
The numbers are in – the Ellinwood Hospital Foundation hosted its first ever benefit golf tournament in September at Grove Park Golf Club, in Ellinwood. The tournament raised over $5,200 in funds for Foundation projects, including the potential Pharmacy and Outreach Clinic project.
“We’re very pleased with the support of our tournament,” reported Lindsey Bogner, Executive Director of the Foundation. “Hosting fundraisers is one of our first steps to raising money for new and bigger projects at the hospital and clinic.”
The golf tournament featured a four-man scramble. The morning began with a pouring rain, but it didn’t stop the six teams from competing. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments were provided throughout the day. Raffles were available, with gift cards, many gifts, and a golf bag as prizes.
Following lunch and the awards, the Foundation held its first Golf Ball Drop. Over 175 chances were purchased out of 500 available. The City of Ellinwood used the bucket truck to get high enough to drop the golf balls over the practice green. Two balls went in the hole, and the third place ball landed a few inches from the hole.
Jason Schlochtermeier won third place and $100. Glenn Hertel won second and $250. Al and Mary Hammersmith won the grand prize.
“Al and Mary were so very gracious! Al donated the winnings back to the Foundation,” exclaimed Bogner. “The generosity of this community is incredible. Without the donors, sponsors, and golfers, events like this wouldn’t be possible.”
